I have a twenty-year experience as an independent construction tradesman, my company is situated near Paussac St Vivien, a village where limestone is extracted and cut, between Brantôme and Bourdeilles (a major site in the “Green Périgord”)
For the past ten years I have specialised in building new houses respecting both traditional architectures and European thermal regulations (RT2005)
In my constructions, I use the golden number: a universal proportion used by constructors since man as built homes. Bearing in mind the idea that man is in harmony with the universe, it seems wise to apply the proportions of the human body to a building to ensure the construction is in harmony with the universe. The house becomes a satisfying space to live in and to look at : a reflection of mankind. I mathematically include the proportion (1,618) in all my architectural blueprints. I can, on request, integrate the individual proportions of each client to make a customised house.
To comply with the European thermal regulations (RT2005), which tend towards reducing greenhouse effects, I use a polyurethane foam, 60mm thick, in the bulk of the walls which gives a fully insulated raw wall and allows me to apply a lime based coating on the inside walls, respecting rustic traditions. I have not yet found a natural insulation that can be integrated to the bulk of the walls and that is not too thick. The floors are insulated and heated as are the ceilings to complete the home comfort, complying with thermal regulations.
The constructions are also bioclimatic: their situation makes the most of natural energy sources to heat the house.
Using traditional building techniques (cut stones, fitted rough-stones, lime stonework, roof structures with tenon and mortise), the use of noble materials (stone, terra cotta, oak, lime…) I construct houses with a rustic effect but all the modern comfort.
I work with other local craftsmen (electrician, plumber and heating engineer, carpenter, earthwork contractor, swimming pool contractor) that I trust, which allows my clients to feel serene throughout the project. The quality of our work allows us to respond to most of our clients’ requests whether they prefer floor heating, wood heaters, geothermal heating, wood or aluminium double-glazing. We can integrate most requests as long as they don’t destabilise the project.
My “ready-to-live-in- house” projects include blueprints, project execution (constructions, roof structure and covering, lime coatings, tiling, floorboards, insulation, stove fittings, distempers) as well as the construction development, coordination with other craftsmen, and direct client consultation.
I may also suggest accommodation during the construction, if you do not live in the area.
